    Transatlantic lines is non union US flag and run 3 to 4 ships for Naval supplies.

    thats correct united maritime group is non-union, they also have almost half the tug fleet laid up without work right now.

    This position will be responsible for supporting diverse efforts of a small Government Affairs team by researching and writing/summarizing new issues relating to boating policy issues on the federal, state and local levels, as well as delivering subsequent action plans. The Coordinator will work on member inquiries via phone, e-mail, and written correspondence. Other responsibilities include maintaining, updating and evolving Government Affairs web presence, emailing action alerts and monitoring message boards. In addition, the Coordinator will attend internal and external meetings to bolster relationships with other groups. Additional tasks will include general office support to the Government Affairs department, including filing, mailing, UPS, office supplies and meeting set up.

    The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS from a four-year college or university and excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be an active and avid boater. Must have knowledge of the structure of federal and state governments with previous experience in politics, lobbying and the role of associations in policy making. Great customer service a must. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point required. Must be reliable, self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently. Research experience with both phone and internet and work in government affairs desired. Knowledge of boating policy issues a plus.

    Met their electrician in Diego Garcia recently. The guy couldn't wait to get off that ship. Said he would've quit in a heartbeat but can't afford the ticket back to the US, that he would have to pay if he quits ($2500 one way). The next day heard that their chief mate quit that same day I talked to the guy. Seems like a nice company to work for
