Job Description:
This position is a seasonal part-time position and is physically located at the Petersburg Ferry Terminal. This position’s primary duties are customer service oriented.
Duties include:
In this position, you must be able and willing to work in any/all weather conditions. You must also be able to lift/pull mooring lines, which can weigh above 75 lbs, over long distances on wet/slippery surfaces. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for developing and monitoring training programs required by regulatory agencies that oversee Company operations. This person assists other departments with the definition, delivery and tracking of training requirements, and communicates changes to regulatory training compliance matters. Actively partners with regional vendors to provide consistent quality training solutions. Designs creative and engaging training solutions that are learner centric through a wide variety of training mediums for adult learners, including classroom instruction, computer based training and materials design. Tracks and analyzes training compliance data utilizing specific reporting and data management systems. Makes recommendations for systems' parameters to support audit and reporting requirements. Analyzes training to monitor effectiveness of training solutions and to implement suggestions for improvements. Recommends changes to the training programs to ensure program content and quality of learning. May provide direction to other trainers and/or contracted vendors. May also perform various administrative and logistical support duties as required, such as material distribution and classroom set up.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
3-5 years experience in adult learning, including classroom instruction, training program development, and/or regulatory compliance training. Knowledge of marine terminal regulatory requirements is desirable. Strong relationship building skills are critical to success in this role. You must be customer service focused, and will work closely with business unit leaders to help them meet their regulatory training goals. This is a challenging position and requires hands on, can-do attitude. You must have a high level of energy, passion, and proven dedication for employee training and development.
Experience with training tracking software and intermediate to advanced level Microsoft skills required. Budget management experience is desirable. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. Ability to work outside, with frequent travel to other company areas of operation, including the Eastern Seaboard, South Florida, Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experiencedeveloping, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
Bachelor’s degree in education, training and development, or instructional design technology required. Certification in either human performance technology or instructional design preferred.

General Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Tankermen/PIC position include, but are not limited to, the following: Responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of assigned area; Prepare the barges that are assigned to his boat for safe and complete loading and discharging of oil, refined, and petrochemical barges; Make certain that any and all federal and state required documents that must accompany the barges are on board and in proper order; Communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of the product understands what the product is and how it should be transferred and protected; Participate in the maintenance of the boat and barges, and help with the training of newly hired employees aspiring to become Tankerman/PIC; Able to handle lines and rigging during tow building, locking, and docking activities; Must be able to work a 12-Hour day and willing to take on-call responsibility if the need arises; Follow and adhere to all company policies, United States Coast Guard and environmental regulations; Possess sufficient fitness to perform heavy physical labor involving lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling various materials and tools, climbing ladders, stairwells, and push-knees while working in climate weather with temperatures that may vary from extreme cold to extreme hot; Must be able to work in hot weather while wearing required PPE while performing any task above (i.e. respirators, goggles, etc.); Lifting and carrying hoses from one vessel to another involving stairs or push-knees is an example of a work activity requiring good fitness; Deckhand experience is preferred.
