I just saw a TV program on this ship last night. They say it is designed to carry 1800 people as a cruise ship but the owners have decided to sell rooms as Condos instead. <!-- Name --> About 350 extremely wealthy people have purchased a "Condo" on this ship. I can't imagine what the HOA fees are?

    Howdy!

    Hmmm... inland...

ACL is hiring- but you might have to start out on deck/work up. There's a lot of turnover there so I'd imagine it wouldn't take long... www.aclines.com

or... American Cruise Lines may still be hiring for this- it's inland- Columbia/Snake rivers- new ship for them- probably still hiring- link- http://www.americancruiselines.com/ships.php?ship_id=16

Army Corp of engineers has openings pretty regularly- check through USA jobs...

Lastly- you might try here-http://www.ingrambarge.com/default.aspx?v=barge/careers/employment they seem to have openings fairly often.

    Hope you find something

The barge and towing industry offers numerous advantages over other jobs:
    • * A versatile skilled profession that doesn't require a college degree.
      * A job with a future. * Competitive wages and benefits.
      * The chance to learn a trade.
      * An alternative to college or 9-to-5 jobs.
    PLUS-
    • Job security! Settoon Towing is committed to retaining its employees, even in tough economic times. Settoon Towing has made it a goal; “NO LAY-OFFS!”, and we strive to continue this commitment.

The inland barge and towing industry is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week business. When on the job, the crew-members of a towboat work, eat and sleep on board their vessel for several days or even weeks at a time. The work can be hard and challenging, but it's also rewarding.
If you're ambitious and hardworking, a job on board a towboat offers outstanding opportunities for advancement in the maritime industry.
As a newcomer to the industry, you will begin as a deckhand where you can take advantage of our training programs. Settoon Towing, LLC will provide the necessary training for you to become a licensed tankerman, which will start to increase your earning capacity. When qualifications are met, you can further your training to become a licensed mariner in as little as 36 months. Tuition assistance programs are available to help you advance in your new career!
You may apply Online or download our two Employment forms below.
You may fill out both forms and fax them back to us or email them to Mike Hall, Marine Personnel Development, or bring them with you when you come to our offices.

I went to the web site and on their Marine application page it says:

"Due to recent United States Coast Guard regulations affecting crew travel, we are only accepting applications from individuals living in the following states" naming mostly midwest river states.

    https://www.ingrambarge.com/eas/login.aspx

Any idea what regulation they're refering to?

They must be trying to eliminate long travel times to the vessel WRT the "hours worked" verus "hours at rest" rules. Imagine that!

    Tim
I've known people to change their address when applying for positions- often with success...

Not sure about the regulation- interesting...
