Thanks for the reply. First, their testimony for one see above) for the first time in NTSB Investigative panel history - someone actually asks about "political process and contributions"...." How much - more or less than the other guy", as if that subject has ANY bearing on the investigation. Second, just look over their testimony....ie their answer to panel....THEN compare what was released via FOIA in the Professional Mariner as mentioned earlier.

You sound like a conscientious Mariner...clearly anyone who goes to sea and is subject to the Federal Laws in regard to Federally Mandated Drug Testing Compliance ( which by the way the majority of us are all for) would get a little ( just a little) pissed off over both the arrogance and "ignorance of the law" claim when it comes to this subject matter.

If we can not be ensured the USCG will be keeping them on even keel....you can bet the P&I Insurance and US Insurance companies can....and will. Especially NOW. What is is the works is as follows: Insurance Companies can ask for all associations DAPI AUDIT. This annual and required document is a Federally mandated Drug Testing Compliance Audit....done exclusively by the USCG ( which is what the P.M. article is referring to). If you were an Insurer of their pilot boats....and discovered come time to renew their policy....and it was discovered that they failed their Dapi...."would you insure" ? Absolutely not !

Here is one for you.....how many "Associations" within the entire US pilotage system have a clean Dapi? This is being looked at my friend. Better yet - how would you like to be be the insurer who just got "had" with the P.M. release. <!-- / message -->

Granted things are obviously going to change but there was a lot more oil spilt on the Mississippi river not long after the Cosco Busan incident. Dont hear much about that incident. Is it because it happened in LA? Did that pilot face any charges? Equity?

"someone who shorted agi from the top" means i shorted this stock months ago....as opposed to going long. Wish i did not buy it back....turns out it was way to early. But made the right move and call.
Writing the shit out of the bull/bear butterfly call option spreads as of thursday.

Mrs. Oil...let me say that as a semi-pro ranter in this forum, that I am impressed with the passion you display towards this matter. You shine a bright light on a major issue in today's maritime industry which has escaped public scrutiny for too many years.

I could write an essay or two on what I think of most pilotage associations in the US but I can see that what I would write would have already been said here. I do wish to say though that I am in 100% agreement that the time has come for each and every pilots association in the US to become truly transparent and end the days to the secret society mindset which has created John Cota and many others like him.

All private pilotage associations with their inherent exclusive right to exist as competition free monopolies need to be terminated and their functions turned over to public entities as per the model of the Los Angeles Harbor Pilots.

I have to agree cajuntugster...wasn't Pelosi a big supporter of the SF Bar Pilots publically sanctioned private monopoly before Cota's little episode and only tried to distance herself from that position after it became political poison KoolAid to take their side?

I still say however that the time has come for these "Associations" to be disempowered by turning over all functions of admin and oversight to public bodies. Let these associations remain alive but cut their testicles off and leave them impotent to keeping their little secret societies going. Complete and total transparency must be the new mantra when it comes to State controlled pilotage. Withold Federal development money from Ports who refuse to let in the light of day.
