Your next step up is 200 ton I think. Everything is changing with the new STCW NPRM. There is much discussion about that here on gCaptain forums.

you will need sea time on a vessel over 100 tons,,, if you can DO IT NOW BEFORE the new stcw comes out,,,, sit for your 200 ton mate/master license,,, a 1 week course.... if you wait you ill have to do several classes it could be 12 but no limit is set at this point.......

go to this link and look at the checklist for 200 ton master and 200 ton mate,,, THIS WILL CHANGE WHEN THE NEW STCW COMES OUT.......

I just checked and can not find a 200 ton master/mate in NEAR COASTAL,,, but I know they have them as I have the 200 ton mate NC license myself,,,,,

your best bet is to email nmc and ask them to send you a check list for the 200 ton master license

also check out this link on the new stcw coming out that I posted,,,,

100, I just went to look for it,on the NMC site as well and it's gone...I just used it a few months ago, when I upgraded...This isn't the first time stuff disappeared from their site..Now I make copies of everything I am researching...

Captread, D.P. and 100, are correct, you will need to take the 100-200 ton upgrade course, pass the test, and submit to NMC, along with your recency of the increased tonnage...

With the new NPRM, I wonder if 200 Ton licenses will eventually be tested at the REC's, instead of at the schools....
